Studying abroad is both a challenging and rewarding experience for students, and the Department strongly encourages its undergraduate students to participate. To further encourage and assist students, the Department offers a limited number of scholarships to qualified applicants. The Department also offers undergraduate advising to both departing and returning students. The UW-Madison offers the following programs:
Increase your Spanish language proficiency as you learn about the heritage and cultural traditions of Mexico through either an eight-week summer or three-week winter program in Oaxaca.
Spend your summer at the University of Guanajuanto, one of Mexico's finest institutions of higher learning, in Guanajuanto, an isolated city with history rich in silver mining.
Study in the summer or fall semester in historic Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.
Take regular university courses in Santiago, a dynamic, cosmopolitan metropolis that serves as Chile's cultural, political, and economic center.
Study in two unique and dramatically different Latin American countries, Ecuador and Chile, as a participant in the Comparative Year in Latin America.
Spend a semester or a year studying in Argentina's diverse capital city, Buenos Aires.
Take regular university courses alongside Spanish students at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid in the spring semester or the academic year program at Madrid.
Travel to the ancient city of Granada for your Spring or Fall semester abroad and receive personalized language instruction and experience the rich culture of the Andalucía region.
Spend either your fall or spring semester or the full year in the romantic city of Seville taking courses at the Universidad de Sevilla, one of Spain's leading institutions of higher learning.
Explore the medieval city of Alcalá de Henares and study for a semester or a year at the historic university.
Attend the Portuguese Language and Culture program for international students at the Universidade de Coimbra, which was founded in 1290, in Coimbra.
Travel to Brazil to study for a semester or a year in Belo Horizonte.
