Professor Hernández's main area of teaching and research is contemporary Latin American literature with a focus on theater and performance. Her research interests include globalization theories, memory studies, issues of identity, and reception theory. She has published articles on the role of memory, trauma, and reconciliation in the post dictatorial theater of Argentina, Chile, and Brazil in journals such as Latin American Theatre Review, Gestos and Symposium, among others. She just completed her manuscript entitled Resistencia, desencanto y globalización: el teatro actual de Argentina y Chile. Professor Hernández is currently conducting research on the theater of disintegration in recent Argentine plays. She is also the Book Review editor for Latin American Theatre Review.
