Gifts and Contributions

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese depends on the generosity of alumni and friends to ensure the continued success of our programs. We invite you to help us maintain and improve our excellence in education and research by contributing to the department. All contributions made by individuals, groups, businesses or corporations are processed through the UW Foundation and should be designated specifically for the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

How to Donate to the Department:

Through the UW Foundation, we are able to offer you "On-Line Giving" via a secure web site. Fill in your personal information and designate your gift to the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.

Special Funds:

You can also give to special initiatives in our department, such as:

  • Spanish and Portuguese Fund - supports the greatest needs of the department, including undergraduate and graduate students, research and programs of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. (#1279903)

  • Spanish and Portuguese Fund/Residencia - we are currently seeking donations that will enable us to open a fund that will serve to support the Residencia de Estudiantes. (#1279903)

  • Dr. Dorothy Donald Memorial Fund - provides small stipends to advanced graduate students to attend conferences related to their fields, allowing them to familiarize themselves with professional activities and to establish contacts with scholars working their fields. (#12790317)

  • Barbara Jean Hycner Scholarship/Fellowship Fund - provides scholarships and fellowship for students studying Spanish language and literature. (#12792560)

  • Roberto G. Sanchez Distinguished Lectureship Fund - provides financial support for lectures in the department. (#12791267)

  • Ray Harris Hispanic Linguistics Award - to recognize outstanding graduate students in Hispanic linguistics in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. (#12796997)

To give to any of these funds, please designate on the departmental form above or on the memo line of your check, if you pay by that method, that you would like your gift to be used for an individual fund.
